Is there a relationship between the transmission efficiency of the ball screw and the critical speed?

The transmission efficiency and critical speed of a ball screw are somewhat related.

During the operation of a ball screw, friction and rotational losses of the ball bearings can cause energy loss and reduction in conversion efficiency, thereby affecting the transmission efficiency of the ball screw. When the operating speed of the ball screw exceeds a certain value, spiral vibration or resonance may occur, leading to a decrease in accuracy and lifespan or even damage of the ball screw. This limit speed is the critical speed. Therefore, to ensure the transmission efficiency and lifespan of a ball screw, it is necessary to choose an appropriate critical speed. Generally speaking, when the operating speed of the ball screw is far below the critical speed, its transmission efficiency is higher; when the operating speed of the ball screw is close to or exceeds the critical speed, its transmission efficiency will decrease.

Thus, in practical applications, the transmission efficiency and critical speed of a ball screw need to be considered comprehensively based on specific working conditions and requirements, and suitable ball screw specifications and operating parameters should be selected to ensure its transmission efficiency and lifespan.
